Random Thoughts the Third

As a devoted student of (80s) nostalgia, I've long been fascinated by the character Max Headroom. Back then he was everywhere! Then he just pretty much disappeared by the end of the decade.

He had his own cable tv talk show, a cool sci-fi network tv show, a great song with Art of Noise (remember them? double 80s nostalgia) appeared in a slew of Coke commercials and inspired a Doonesbury character.

Played by Matt Frewer, the creators had people believing he was computer generated and when he was just a dude in a mask in front of some tame graphics.

Radical!

Wasn't the Doonesbury character a cross between Max and Ronald Reagan? Trudeau's strip also had a great visual dig at Bush the First, portraying him as a tiny invisible spec.

I went down the rabbit hole of the prank where someone hijacked the WGN news telecast and patched in a Headroom look alike for like 17 seconds. They were never caught.

Many years from now, lying on my deathbed, I hope to look up at my wife's beautiful face, reflect on the decades we've spent together, smile, and with my final breathe tell her: "At least now I won't have to listen to you bench anymore."

It's funny how all of my wife's stuff is hers but all of my stuff is "the."

Where's the raincoat?
Where' the glashes?
Where's the Yeti?
