"Long Life, Happiness and Prosperity" a Canadian indie flick starring Sandra Oh. Oh is good as usual, but all the others absolutely charmed me. Film is free on hulu.

Caught about 30 seconds of the intro to Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring on cable tonight and immediately decided to toss in my extended cut of Fellowship. Hadn't seen it in a couple of years but, damn, that flick still holds up.

The first time I saw this movie, I didn't really like it. Thought it was kind of boring, actually. But that was before I really gave it a good look, and before I played the PS2 game and read the book. Solid movie. Good character details, lots of action, all in all a great way to start the trilogy.

Oh, and Boromir's last lines are still some of the best I've heard a character say with his/her dying breaths.

"I would have followed you, my brother...my captain...my king."

Clooney has whatever "it" is in spades, he is just awesome.

Saw Up In The Air tonight, and found it really enjoyable, if a bit melancholy. Vera Farmiga ... holy smokes. And the story has an interesting mirror quality to Clooney's life.

Just got done watching the extended version of "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers". Solid flick but definitely the weakest and dullest of the trilogy.

Apart from the Helm's Deep battle (Which is lit a little too darkly for my likings), the movie kind of drags for 75% of the time.

I hated everything with Fangorn Forrest, though the movie painted it in a better light than the book did, and really didn't like how cowardly it painted Thoedon as the battle began but, it's still a solid entry into the trilogy.

Felt like Frodo and Sam were largely ignored in this portion of the story, though I guess that makes sense since they're not really doing anything but walking the whole time.

Saw Sherlock Holmes tonight. Pretty, pretty good. Again, Downey, Jr makes the movie. The dialogue was snappy. The action sequences were a bit much, but I guess that's what one should expect from a Guy Ritchie film. But really, this is a Downey, Jr vehicle. He is so much gosh darn fun to watch. Jude Law was excellent, too. Rachel McAdams held her own. She is really beautiful.

I saw it tonight too.

I was actually going to be a smart-ass and say that I saw Rachel McAdams' new movie tonight, and apparently Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law were also in it, but I didn't notice them.

But the truth is it's a great movie with top-notch performances by all. Very well done and, yes, lots of fun.

Just got through the extended cut of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. My god, what an epic conclusion to what is, easily, the movie film of the last decade.

I know it's easy to say you have to view all the movies as separate entities but I really don't think that's fair in this case. This was never meant as three films and you can tell that if Peter Jackson had his way, and if he could have gotten audiences to sit through it, he would have released it all as one massive, epic, 12-hour film.

As a whole, the film is unlike any other I've seen. So many characters, so many adventures, yet you never lose track of the main point of the story.

And Return is like the ultimate payoff for anyone who invested X amount of hours watching the first two films. Do I wish they had included the Scouring of the Shire? Yes. But, that being said, I felt the movies didn't even need it. They did a great job showing the courageousness of the Hobbits and whether it was Eowyn's taking down the Witch King, Aragorn saying "You bow to no one" or Sam carrying Frodo up Mt. Doom, this movie delivered in every which way imaginable.

ROTK: 9.7/10
Trilogy: 9.9/10 (As close to perfect as you can get).

Just watched "The Invention of Lying"

The first half was hilarious. The second half was cheesy and schmaltzy.

Felt the same thing about Ghost Town. I'm a fan of Ricky Gervais, but I don't know if he can fully translate to Hollywood, where you need cheesy crap for American audiences.

It's still worth seeing. First 45 minutes = A. Last 45 minutes = C+.

His last episode of Extras ranks in my top five of final episodes of a series.... with Freaks and Geeks, Newhart, Six Feet Under and M*A*S*H

Where do you rank the Extras episode where he was playing a German soldier and tries to hook up with the girl playing the nun?

Watched Public Enemies last night.
I liked. Certainly Michael Mann's best picture.
Depp was great as usual ... Bale was there.

A little too long, but not slow.

Watched "Julie & Julia" on DVD with my daughter the other night. Good movie - well worth the time.
