Masters Running Thread

I think Tiger's 2008 grand slam quest is toast.
The weather is supposed to breezy and coll today and there are several good players in front of him - granted none who have ever won a major - but still good.
Immelman and Casey both look strong.

It should be intersting.
Beside, ain't shi else on today. 'cept the Red Sucks and the Yankers.

If I were a betting man, I would put my money on Casey. But I'll be pulling for ol' fast-talking Sneds.

I just don't want to see Immelman pull a Norman. Anything but that. I want to see him shoot 70, and Tiger have to shoot 64 to get into a playoff. Just not some ugly collapse that will have all the scribes swallowing Tiger to the hilt and talking about his intimidating presence, which is so scary, it has never once previously allowed him to come from behind and win a major.

In order to exercise my God-given right to egregious sports prediction on the American internet, I'm going to call for Tiger by a stroke at -10. I do this without expertise in the overall field, familiarity with the specific event, nor any particular interest in the outcome.

Anyone else notice the 1:15 ET pairing today?

Philly Mick and Veeejay. The last time these two waltzed Augusta's fairways and greens together, they almost got into a brawl because Veej took issue with Mickelson's spikes and their effects on Augusta's greens.

Let's see how egregiously CBS conveniently ignores this little storyline.

Meanwhile, for some reason, Mariotti is at Augusta. The world trembles at the wisdom pouring forth. ::)

And of course, the people who will/would be intimidated by Tiger will go the entire day without even seeing him.

Not exactly like trying to ace Roger Federer on match point . . . or throw a fastball by David Ortiz with the bases loaded in the 9th.

They might not see him often, if ever, but they'll know every time he does something good because of the roar from the crowd -- most of which will be following him and not the final pairing.

Four months ago Immelman was staring down a tumor. I'm guessing he doesn't find Tiger nearly as intimidating.

I think we overplay that sometimes, BYM. Two different kinds of courage.

What will finish Tiger very quickly here is parring a par-5. Which appears to be happening here.

Tiger really needs this birdie putt. Something to start the wheels moving.
