Masters Running Thread

He's 32, he swears. Big deal. I say fork when I hit a bad shot, as do many other golfers when they're hacking their way to a 104 at muni on the weekends. Maybe someone at CBS should have the foresight to kill the on-course mic immediately after the clubhead hitting the ball instead. Happens in team sports too. They want that audio of the ball clanging off of the rim, or the helmet crashing into the shoulder pads but then bench about the "aww fork" from the running back. It's not Mass. It's sports.

Agreed. People swear when they're frustrated. It's a fact of life. The fact that it's on TV and kids are watching doesn't change that, nor should it. If you want the mics on, that's a small price to pay.

Unless Greg Norman takes over Immelman's body or Tiger shoots 27 on the back nine, I think this thing is over.

Man, Tiger hasn't just never won a major when behind after 54.... but he goes so forking meekly... always.

And ruined Augusta National will give us another anonymous champion.

That used to be the domain of the U.S. Open.

Very sad days for me.

I don't think I communicated it clearly.

Kostis was covering for Tiger with his comment. The "fork you" was clear to see. Fine whatever. Toger curses. TV cameras hate that, but it is what it is. But instead of letting it drop, Kostis felt the need to explain how frustrated the pouty Tiger must be.

Nantz's comment was simply: "Well, you could say that of a lot golfers, though."

Later, Kostis tried to explain again "What I was trying to say if Tiger's showing his frustration a lot more this week, yada yada.."

Nantz's response: "Well, you'd think with his seasoning and experience, he'd be able to handle it a little better."

I don't really care if Tiger curses or not. But Kostis' little pardon was lame.

Immelman's a great one in the making.

At 28?

I await word on the state of Mr. Immelman's nerves. That yanked putt on 7 may have been an aberration. Or a harbinger.

I got the same read you did, Alma. It was a rare moment when Nantz basically grew tired of the excuse-making. Tiger is frustrated. Tiger is getting some bad breaks. Tiger is unlucky. Tiger was happy with his shot, it just didn't go far. Maybe it was the wind. Tiger hit it all over the place off the tee, but says the lowest score he could have shot was 68. Blah blah blah.
