Music Thread (post a song)

I was doing a deep Youtube dive and I ran up on these guys. I had never heard them (or heard of them). Basically I just hit play to see what they'd do with the song.

It turns out that they turn it into a Southern rocking guitar jam. I grew up in Atlanta and I saw the Southern Rock thing hit, I was right in the middle of it. These guys remind me of Lynyrd Skynyrd just as they first hit with "Gimme Three Steps". A tight band that's loosey goosey comfortable on stage, just working out. I'll have to see what else they have on offer. The vid is from ten years ago, but there are current touring dates on the post, so they're still around. Good stuff.

Oh, and migawd, the sideburns.

Yeah, his guitar tone reminded me a lot of Dan Baird from the Satellites. I remember thinking that while I was first hearing it.

If only it could have done for the English horn what Starbuck did for the marimba.

I do agree with John Ford Coley, who has said this was his favorite. They might be known best for "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight," but this was their best effort.

The Animals are from Newcastle. The DC5 and the Hollies were from Manchester. They were much more versatile musically, within their self-contained band, with keybords, sax, etc., and their music seemed (IMHO) to have a lot more soul and passion, than the Beatles. Maybe it's living in the north.

Eric Burdon is one great singer. And that's one of the greatest songs of the entire British Invasion.
