I'm wondering if Phoenix should just leave Shaq on the bench for the fourth.

Oh, I'd kill to see that happen. Phoenix loses with Shaq on the bench and it gets overtly ugly.
Phoenix WINS with Shaq on the bench and watch out for the Shaq sly zingers at D'Antoni.

He sucks, August. We talked about it back during Game 1, on the second page of this thread.

EDIT: A delightful result tonight in the eyes of this here Lakers fanboy. Sure, the Spurs might beat the Lakers, but they're not a group that an opponent can do anything but respect.

The Suns ran their mouths in that Jack McCallum book last year, the owner, coach and players. Smacking the Lakers and all that, ripping a franchise to which Phoenix is a piece of dogcrap on the bottom of the Lakers' shoe. Now they made a panic trade for Shaq, who brought his mouth and little else consistently. And their cap is killed, their window closed.

Once again, it is proven that LA made the right move four years ago when it chose Kobe.

Hey R--Ski, how's that taste?

So how long until D'Antoni gets paged to the white courtesy phone?

Well, he'll have to wait cuz Shaq's on it already throwing D'Antoni and anyone else he can under the bus for not utilizing him correctly.

"You know, I'm the Big Aristotle. I make my free throws when I need to. You know. I'm not a gamble, I'm an investment. You know. Phoenix should pay me more, because I'm a winner. You know. Hack-a-Shaq doesn't work no more. I'm the Big dog. I guard the yard. You know. We would have won it all, but they didn't utilize me right. You have the Most Dominant, you gotta utilize him right. You know."

Also: After coaching the Nets to consecutive finals appearances and still getting run out of town by Jason Kidd, great to see Byron Scott get a bit of scoreboard tonight.

You know, I've been letting Shaq's zingers on coaches and passing the blame for a long time. It ends tonight. The Big (Slow) Aristotle needs to STFU and realize that the offense isn't going to go through him anymore.

This was Steve Kerr's undoing and Mike D is likely to fall on the sword.

What do you guys think?
Would Dallas and Phoenix have advanced beyond the first round had they not made the trades?
I say Phoenix does (cuz I think they earn a higher seed and avoid the Spurs), while Dallas still falls to a team like Utah.

And, I'd like to thank Chris Wallace once again for GIVING Pau Gasol to the Lakers. That has been the only trade where the big piece coming in seems to fit perfectly and it also put Dallas and Phoenix in panic mode to make their trades.
And, again, imagine how scary the Lakers will be when they're actually healthy (Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Bryant, Fisher).

As bostonbred would say: "unreal."
