NFL week 17 running thread

I must have missed something. TELL ME nobody said Garrard is better than Vince Young. Because that's about the stupidest thing I could imagine ANYONE saying.

I hope anyone who votes on coach of the year compares the Jets and Saints rosters first. I'm admittedly a Jets homer, but I still think The Mangenius deserves the honor based on a less talented team in a much harder conference.

The harder conference doesn't help, because look at the schedule. Last week's win against Miami was the Jets second best win of the season.

Take a look at who the Saints have beaten. Nothing overly impressive there, either. Everybody in the NFC is mediocre at best, and the only AFC team they beat was Cleveland. Payton doesn't deserve any edge based on caliber of competition.

I love it. They went 5-1 against one of the better divisions in the league, including a sweep of the division winner. But too many gag jobs sent them home.

Hope that New Year's celebration is festive, Carolina. You've got eight months until anything counts again.

Sam, aren't you a Panthers fan?

In other news, Vinny Testaverde did it again: He threw a TD pass in the final minutes of the Pats' win over the Titans to extend his record streak of seasons with a TD pass to 20. And once again, he has a chance to make his final NFL snap a TD pass.

The harder conference should help. Miami is a 10-win team in the NFC...heck the Ohio State Buckeyes are a 10-win team in the NFC. Team went 6-2 on the road with a win over New England, which is a better team than anyone the Saints faced this season.

The Saints body of work isn't any better. Philly and Dallas were decent wins, but who else? The NFC South was garbage this year, they went 1-3 against the AFC North.

And like I said, compare rosters. How many coaches in the league could squeeze 10 wins out of a team with a below average running game, a below average rush defense and a QB being held together by screws and super glue? The Saints made a huge splash with free agency in the offseason by signing Brees and added the Heisman trophy winner to a backfield that already had Duece McAllister.
