NFL Week 2: Achilles' Last Stand

Didn't Stefanski try to limit his touches when possible so his career could last longer? I know I saw games that I wondered why he wasn't getting the ball more.

Stefanski limited Chubb's touches because Stefanski is stupid. Full stop. Hey, at least the guy will be fresh while he's limping around in retirement.

Tune in next week to MNF to see which All-Pro will be lost for they year! My goodness, so horrible. I feel for Browns fans, but maybe they should grab Akers before someone else does. The odd thing is, the Browns WIN that game if they don't give up those defensive touchdowns.
Would Akers be an upgrade over Ford?

That sounds about right. One common thread between the Steelers' victories over the Browns in 2021 and 2022 was that Chubb carried the ball only 12 times in both of those games.

Aaron Donald might want to take next Monday off

Great. Michael Thomas will probably miss the next eight games after this.

I suspect that was a Paul Depodesta/Andrew Berry analytics idea and Stefanski was the football version of Ken Macha/Bob Geren on this one.

It's a great strategy at extending a career…until it isn't.

I'm not sure there is anything great about it. If you've got a great running back, let him do what he can to help you win now. Longevity just isn't in the job description.

Also, the best ones will increase their own longevity by not getting hit (freak injuries aside). I never saw Barry Sanders take a hard hit.

I'm always astounded how much off-season talk and hype there is about the upcoming season, and it so much of it blows up within two weeks. Don't know how many times I heard people gushing about Young and Stroud and how one or the other were "locks" for Rookie of the Year. And remember all that stuff about Richardson being a project and needing to sit at least a year to be "ready?"

I never heard any gushing about Stroud. And all I heard about Young is that he is a shrimp.

Also, if your quarterback tunes in to KTFO radio every week, project is a fair label.

Stroud was viewed as probably the most league-ready, but not great by any means.

Young was viewed as poised and talented but concerningly wee.

Richardson, viewed as a project, has a QB rating in the bottom third of the league.
