President Trump 2.0: The NEW one and only politics thread

12 pages in and only 12 hours in. So on pace for 35,000 pages of this thread.

If he can do that, can he issue similar orders to prevent actual enforcement of any legislation that would be enacted by the override of one of his vetoes?
No, this is a specific feature of the TikTok law. Gives the President option to halt enforcement for 90 days before it goes into effect. Idea was to give TikTok owner chance to sell it.

CORRECTION: Trump's order to DOJ is not related to the 90-day pause in the law and is subject to court challenge from Apple, Oracle and other TikTok providers.

I haven't read the Tik Tok ban law as I'm trying to pace myself with Trump so my blood pressure doesn't go off the chart, so I'm not familiar with the nuts and bolts of the ban. But is the law solely restricted to a company named Tik Tok?

Or could the company get around the ban simply by renaming itself to Tik Took or something, change a few legal details and reincorporate in, like Delaware, or something?

Withdrawing from the World Health Organization. Sounds like a great idea.
I suppose he's hoping for another Trumpandemic so he can brag to his klan base about opposing restrictions and vaccines and so he can leave his successor with a mess.

Judd Legum:

Now that Trump is in office he's immediately pivoted from "the President is responsible for anything bad that happens in the world" to "Me? That's not my problem."

If an SEC team had been in this thing, you know Trump would have been there to participate in some form of ceremony.
Ohio and Indiana voted for him, of course, but we know that ain't the same as the SEC.

I seriously am disengaging - really I am! - not going to respond to every weird thing Trump does, but watched a little of the rally or whatever after the inauguration while picking up my dad for an appointment. My goodness he is small, bitter and seems already bored with the gig. I will enjoy his supporters having to stand with him, either on camera or virtually and try and act he is anything but that. Enjoy your party Trumpers. Sure, you got over, bigly - but don't think anyone doesn't realize it is all a fraud.

Biden's inability to do the job after the 2022 mid-terms. Ignored. By almost everyone.
Oh, Jesus H. Tap-Dancing Christ.

Inability to do the job? But the country didn't fall apart?

You should consider the concept that you've never been more wrong in your life.

And then … shut up.
