President Trump 2.0: The NEW one and only politics thread

Declaring a drug a weapon of mash destruction so the USA can bomb Mexico?

So wouldn't the bombing of rural America, where this stuff runs rampant, be on the table too?

This stuff flourishes because of this country's insatiable thirst for drugs. If there's no market, it wouldn't be smuggled in, but Americans just can't quit.

Copping a thread from Facebook started by one of the smartest guys I know. He's a climate scientist. Clipping the names, adding the responses.

"I know people will post, "What's the point of posting this?" I do it to document what's going on, and to remind those on the other side of the Trump/Musk takeover that they aren't crazy... don't give an inch... the Trump/Musk actions are every bit as petty and counterproductive as they seem.

One of the properties to be de-leased by NOAA is the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. Why? Because that's where the most famous and longest continuous record of atmospheric carbon dioxide has been painstakingly recorded, ever since 1958--what's known internationally as the Keeling Curve.
This is 100% about denying climate change by denial of data on climate change.

Petty, ridiculous, childish, laughable except it's so serious, and thoroughly anti-science."

"This is unclear to me: Is the CO2 record dependent on a building lease?"

"The observations are taken at Mauna Loa Observatory, in the air at 11,000 feet. That observatory is apparently having its lease cancelled. Without that observatory, the continuous record of carbon dioxide at that site will end. Continuous records at the same site are golden for environmental monitoring, because it reduces error due to site relocations."

"I pull data from there all the time. I'm shocked that such a long term continuous and critical record isn't hardwired into our permanent federal infrastructure."

"I had no idea the Mauna Loa was a NOAA facility."

"Everything is up for grabs now. You'd think that our nation's weather forecasting capability would be hardwired, too, right? The building that houses NCEP, the home to our government's forecasting center, is also being de-leased."

"It is not as if this building can be used for anything else. They are simply shutting off the ability of NOAA to measure CO2. This leaves the NIWA facility in new Zealand as the longest running monitoring system. Trump may want to hide data from us, but fortunately the rest of the world is not that stupid."

Constituents don't matter as long as you've got enough corporate or billionaire funding flowing into your warchest and the right letter next to your name.
It's one of the safest Republican districts in the region. Even McCain got 70% of the vote. If you're under no threat of losing your job, why give a ship what happens to them?

I remain disappointed that Drumpf's dedication to the world's most idiotic "sport" hasn't summarily killed it, but I also remain confident that ETTD.
Um, ship forking take dude. Some of us make our living in this "sport."

Also, any talk of his handicap is all bullship. He's listed as a 2.5 and hasn't posted a score to GHIN since 2021.

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development likely violated the Constitution and blocked billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency from further cuts.

From an AP news alert about an hour ago. Here's the test. If he tells the judge to pound sand, the experiment is over and it's time to take to the streets.
