The Soccer Thread (Version 15) — I Got 115 Problems But a Pep Ain’t One

Tickets secured for the Rookery End at Vicarage Road for 8 and 12 March.

Also, shoutout Sky Sports for picking up that Millwall match so it starts at 12:30 local, meaning I can hustle back to Camden to catch The Hold Steady soundcheck at 4ish before the Saturday night show. Had never been to one before sneaking into the one in Brooklyn in December, and it was awesome. That's going to be a hell of a day...

Days like today are why you love this sport and want to inject it into your veins.

A walk-off winner to go back to the top of the table. Unbelievable scenes at Elland Road and in my living room.

Take care of Sheffield United in a week and even my well-earned Leeds United fatalism might be tamped down a bit. (Emphasis on "might".)

Was hoping the matches I will be attending were going to be important, and that appears to be the case. Watford in 10th right now, but only three points back of West Brom for the final playoff spot. Luton (24th) comes to down for the Hertfordshire derby on Sunday morning, followed by a trip to Stoke (19th) before the two matches against Millwall and Swansea. Related, really tough to see Luton in this spot, about to pull the Sunderland and get relegated in back-to-back seasons. Hate to see it.

We're super thin right now with injuries/illness and the hectic nature of the Championship schedule isn't helping matters. Leeds is the better team, it was bound to happen.

Feel good now, but we'll see. Looked good this time a year ago too. March and April tend to bring nasty surprises.

On the other hand, coming back to the Champo hasn't been all bad. There's hope in a way that doesn't exist in the Premier League. However, if you don't go up within two years, it's a calamity on the bottom line, so the clock is ticking.

Speaking of the lower tables, I'm loving the fact the two teams that were featured in behind-the-scenes series are in prime position to compete for promotion. Wrexham is two points shy of second but are 8 points up on the bottom of the playoff teams. Then Sunderland need a minor miracle to get an auto promotion bid, but are 15 points clear of the first team out of the playoffs. Are they going to do another season of Sunderland Til I Die if they pull off promotion?

I once played a college match in 5-inches of snow. But I would totally fake an injury if I was scheduled to play in this Colorado-LAFC match with a 1-degree temp at kickoff.

But it's a dry 1 degrees.

That said, walked outside after my high school game tonight about one mile from that stadium and said, "F this BS"

There was some wind in there too with that 1 degree so, yeah, F all of that.

When the hawk is out, I turn about.

Drop the thermometer as low as you want. As long as there's no wind, I can hang. I actually like it mid-30s with no wind. Perfect beer weather.
