KFGO reported that during Wednesday's hearing, the defense and prosecution agreed that Holmberg should serve about three years because of his age and poor health, but federal Judge Daniel Hovland said Holmberg is still a threat to underage boys.

And there it is. No Epstein or Matt Gaetz or Roy Moore exit ramp a la Basketball Jones. Guy is a buggerer, full stop.

I also must note that a condition of my Australian work visa was that I was not to participate in ANY form of protest on Australian soil. I have no idea of that was a condition of this woman's visa. Just noting that, in at least one other country, it is a thing.

Student visas here don't cancel out the freedom of speech, etc., guaranteed under the Constitution.

Yes. And it survived a Civil War, a Great Depression, fought in WWII (remember, other than Pearl Harbor, our country was never attacked/in danger.
I would submit that Trump 2.0 makes the Sixties look like the Fifties. At no time in the Sixties was our democracy and our Constitution under attack. There were two (reasonably) sane political parties who would compromise and pass legislation.
I would posit that we didn't really survive 9/11. That turned out to be the start of MAGA, wars fought for no reason and the beginning of our country's division. The GOP turned 9/11 into a years long hate fest and used "terrorism" as a reason to trust only the Right Wingers.

And the worst of it all is, our democracy and our Constitution are under attack BY OUR PRESIDENT, not the people. It has been since Jan. 6, 2021. It is beyond the pale, and Congress needs to find a way to get rid of Trump, who should have been jailed then. In all the illegal, indecent, ill-advised and inhumane shirt that has gone on since then, and in his still-brief second term, there has to be a way.

I still can't even understand how he was allowed to be nominated again, you know, given that he was already a convicted felon, a known sexual predator and a confirmed liar. Even if there is nothing specifically saying a convicted felon cannot be President in all our country's writings and workings (you know, because the Founding Fathers apparently never anticipated that that would be an issue with someone who would ever be our President, or that those in our government would ever allow it!), how was/is everyone so OK with that?

It is just inexplicable that the GOP thought Donald Trump was the best thing it had to offer.
