Roe v. Wade to be overturned?

The Shiites will bring a case to set "fetal personhood" at conception. Abortion banned coast to coast. Period.

They don't want to fight the same battle over and over again in 50 states. They want to win the whole war all at once.

Sadly, a November vote isn't going to change the makeup of the Court.

Incidentally, that will be the last time I capitalize "Court" until further notice.

No, but if the D's can make gains then passing a Supreme Court Code of Ethics is possible. So is expanding the court, restoring the Voting Rights Act, and other necessary changes.

The good news is, Susan Collins doesn't have to be "concerned" any more. That's a real relief.

What is the point of confirmation hearings when prospective judges like Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett can simply lie with impunity. Which they all did.

No senator had the balls or ovaries to say to Barrett, or Gorsuch, or Kavanaugh, "I don't believe a word you just said" when they claimed they considered R v W as settled law. Anyone with an ounce of brains knew they would vote to overturn it the first chance they got.

Biden, Pelosi et Al say they'll protect abortion rights by federal statute. First: Not happening. Second: Wouldn't Trump's SCOTUS klan simply strike it down ASAP?

More than a few people have equated the slavery issue with the abortion issue - and now we'll have a patchwork of laws across the country. The Taney Court thought the Dred Scott decision would "settle" the slavery issue once and for all, it only pushed the US into a Civil War. This decision - might be worse, do more damage to the Court's standing and the country.

1) These Christian pro-life hardliners do not give a shirt. If a woman dies getting an abortion, it's God's will. They are similarly unmotivated to do anything serious about school shootings, for example, if it means everyone can't get a gun.

2) Roe v. Wade getting overturned isn't the end for these folks. Like, they're not going to stop until abortion is banned in every state, or (more likely) until they all die out. I actually think the latter is more likely, since association with a Christian religion in the U.S. has shifted from highs of 95+ percent in the 1950s to 69 percent in 2021, per Gallup. Although, unfortunately, that's going to take decades to centuries to play out, a la Texas turning blue.

I said it on here a while back, but I'm wondering if this will turn into the tipping point for a major backlash against the evangelical movement.

The GOP and its Fox Newz minions have whined for decades about how Christianity and their deity are being marginalized ("War on Christmas!!!!"), and that's just been with a (for-now) increase in LGBTQ rights. I'm thinking they're not going to be prepared for the type of backlash where the word "Christian" becomes as dirty a word as "liberal" is for the GOP.

You're welcome. Mainly it was a way of saying the fight will continue - though spread out among 50 states. I do wonder if it might "flip" a few states though - a decision like this will produce a cultural shift in the electorate. Roe was probably as big of a factor in the party realignments in the 60s and 70s as the Civil Rights Movement.
We'll see. Right now 6 Republicans wearing robes are shredding democracy.
