Running 2017-18 NBA regular season thread

Indeed, he will miss the last six exhibition games with a deep contusion to his coccyx because of the crash. He landed so hard that there are about 10 small red stars near his tailbone, the imprint of a section of his mesh jersey. Let's see, that's just over $1.3 million per star.

I think Koncak is the player I most disliked watching in NBA history.

Best thing about the recent small ball trend is how it's pushing those immobile stiffs out. Koncak would never see the floor in today's League.

I still want a 30 for 30 on the 1985 draft and not because of any lottery shenanigans. At 5-6, Koncak and Joe Kleine are taken. Then, 15-17, Blair Rasmussen, Bill Wennington and Uwe Blab. With Blab and Wennington both going to Dallas! Who I assume were looking for a big body to help knock off Kareem and the Lakers, although James Donaldson would be the guy to ultimately fill the role. But, if you were 7 feet tall and white and didn't get drafted in the first round of the 1985 draft, you were a really, really bad basketball player. Which is why Mike Smrek only went with the first pick of the second round.

Hurry. LeBron's on ABC this afternoon. You can't get this kind of drama on over the air TV since they cancelled Falcon Crest.

And with those drafted below Koncak and Kleine including Chris Mullin, Karl Malone, Joe Dumars, Terry Porter, Detlef Schrempf, AC Green, etc....

80s GMs seemed infected with a brain-wasting disease causing them to believe bigger is better even when bigger is a lead-footed cumbersome stiff. Seems like nearly every notoriously stupid pick from that era can be traced to that false premise (starting with Bowie over Jordan).

Bowie was quite agile and would've been an excellent player except he was always injured. This was true in college, too, which is why the Portland pick was so dumb.

I remember being shocked at the Iverson pick.

Really? Who did you think would be the pick?

As I recall, it was between Iverson and Marbury, but wasn't a particularly close debate.

That draft had a remarkable number of great players stumbled upon later in the first round.
