Running 2017-18 NBA regular season thread

You think defense is a problem but they're going to lose to a team with Chris Paul and James Harden.

Umm, I get your point with Harden ...but how the heck do you put Chris Paul in that sentence?

Paul is undisputably one of the greatest defensive guards in the history of the game.

Did I mess that up? I thought I had read something that they were struggling on defense with him. Didn't know if it was adding to the mix and everyone not getting along, or what. But it looks like that was a complete whiff on my part.

Alright then, Harden is bad enough to count as TWO defensive blanks.

And the Warriors still win in five.

Did I mess that up?

Yeah, that might've been about your clearest mess up ever. Just to illustrate, you might take a look at the all defensive teams over the last decade, or for that matter, past NBA steal leaders, a category Paul owned for the better part of a decade straight. Paul's always been a tremendous defensive player, probably a bit less so now that he's getting old and slowing down, but still....

But, fwiw, I mostly agree with your overriding point about Houston's meager chances against the Warriors. But it should go more than four or five games this time.

LeBron did a great job at the deadline, making up for the shirtshow he directed in the off-season. Is JR Smith his stepfather or something, or is he just the most imovebale piece on the roster?

And say what you want about DanGilbert, besides the fact that he's a self made multi-billionaire who didn't start out with money, but he's paid LeBron's freight the whole way. Going way over the salary cap, paying competitive salaries, not nickel and diming LeBron and his business associates; Giving LeBron free reign over rosters, coaching staff and front office personnel, And yet for all of LeBron's accolades and hundreds of millions and his face on the GOAT Mt Rushmore, 1 Championship in Cleveland is a weak payoff.

This is such nonsense. How much money has LeBron made Gilbert?

Gotta say, this take and the variations on it are the absolutely dumbest memes going today. Just inexcusably stupid.

How did Gilbert and the Cavs do those years LeBron was in Miami? I forget.

I honestly don't know if the Cavaliers are still in Cleveland if that popcorn popper thingy with the ping pong balls and/or a secret backroom conspiracy didn't give Cavs LeBron.
