Running 2017 MLB regular season thread

Giants put Melancon on DL with mild pronator strain. Fortunately they won't need him; in their recent turn through the rotation, the starters allowed 32 runs.

Anything better than a 90-loss season will be an achievement.

The bright spot in the current Phillie Phloundering is that Aaron Altherr might just be the Jayson Werth replacement they've been looking for. Short of that, Franco needs a day or two off and Jesus Christ, they need a competent pitching coach/bullpen.

Not so sure about that ... Altherr's BABIP is at about .420 right now. Assuming that drops 100 points or so, his BA is going to fall to around .250 and I doubt he's a 40-HR guy like he's on pace for now. Unless he changes his swing, he seems destined to be a .250 hitter with 15-20 HRs.
