Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

He was just weird and goofy.....he was telling odd personal stories and not really doing what he was supposed to do, which is promte the damn show.

You can always count on the kitties, in a pinch.

No way Amanda Peet can tell the head of the network to come in my office, get up and leave a big meeting, and have him follow her. Steven Webber would have cut her down in front of the room to show everyone who is the head honcho.

The show lost me right there.

Later the PA says "are you here to save us?" Ridiculous dialog.

All the show needs now is Josh Molina to be totally useless.

Not a big fan of suspension of disbelief, we see.

If I'm watching a fantasy show, where people can fly etc. I'll suspend disbelief just fine. When I'm watching a show that is supposed to be one of the best written and smartest out there, not so much.

A "behind the scenes" show needs to be based in reality. Things can be exaggerated, but the meeting scene was completely unbelievable and makes me doubt just how smart the writing is.

I remember hearing something about it switching from one night to another, but I don't remember why.
And I don't understand why people aren't buying how an attractive woman could play a TV exec, since Peet's character is based on Jamie Tarses, a hot TV exec, who used to run ABC.

For me, it's not that I don't buy an attractive woman as a TV exec, it's that I don't buy Amanda Peet as said woman.

"Attractive" wasn't the problem for me... it was the grinning, as others have pointed out... the coquettishness.

When I saw your post, I googled Tarses and found that she supposedly had a thing with Matthew Perry back in '97. Another Sorkin inside joke, I guess.

I just think 'Entourage' does this sort of thing so much better. And none of these characters approach Ari Gold.

just watched it on tivo last night. i agree with the criticism of amanda peet. what the fork was the deal with 12 shots of that idiotic grin? and why the fork was she wearing a dress as big as a rain poncho and a trenchcoat in about half the scenes? she's on the show because she's a hottie. i'm not saying she has to wear something too skimpy but let's at least show that she has a nice figure.

NBC just confirmed that she's pregnant, so that's probably gonna be a problem about mid-season or so.

Nah, many have been able to shoot episodes while pregnant ... many camera tricks to use.
I figured they'd shoot around her, I was referring more specifically to leo's desire to have her wear skimpier clothing.

damnit. heck yeah it'll be a problem for me if i can't see more of her.

"Coquettishness." Wait, and it's two triple-word scores!

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

Don't buy Peet as network president.

Thank you.

It's NOT that she's pretty ... she's too young.

The C.J. Craig actress would have been perfect in that role, just not so hot.

Re: Studio 60 premiere (spoilers)

I could buy Peet as the president of like Bravo or maybe the CW. But not a Big 3. She is smoking hot though.

She's not a president of the Big 3. She's president of NBS, which appears to be a fifth network trying to compete with ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX. Ed Asner's character read part of her resume which mentioned she'd worked at all (or most) of the other four networks.
