To catch a fish, you have to think like a fish

Insurance carriers trying to avoid paying for mental health visits and prescriptions is a big factor. Another is the stigma attached to mental health issues. A common thread in episodes like this is patients taking their meds for a while, becoming more stable, and then deciding that they have a handle on things - so they stop taking their meds. That's a very common cause of such public freakouts.

Isn't that what happened to the player from the LA Raiders arrested the night before the Super Bowl some years back? He was taking his medications, appeared to be doing better, and stopped taking them. That's when he went on a rampage and was arrested.

I've seen it probably fifteen or twenty times over the years, either involving patients being treated at the clinic where I worked or in friends/family/acquaintances who were bipolar or had another mental health problem. The patient who gets on meds and responds well to them but then decides that they are all better now and don't need to keep taking their stupid meds is such a common story that it has become all but a cliche. Next thing you know you hear that they took off all their clothes and were arrested walking down Main Street talking to themselves.

I feel bad for the guy for many reasons - but especially because he will forever be haunted by that nude photo and the water must have been very, very cold.
I believe the technical term is shrinkage.

No, still funny. But I knew it was a parody because who in Sterrett has all their teeth? That's a place where all the stereotypes y'all have about Alabama actually apply.
