Shake my head when people in the biz, those who should know better, use phrases such as "Coach K." He ain't Coach K to anybody who didn't play for him.One of my biggest pet peeves. It's not reverence, it's putting the guy on an unnecessary pedestal. If you're a reporter, he's Joe or Lincoln or Bill or whatever.
And that shirt's not limited to the stick-and-ball sports. At the Masters when the Augusta National chairman has his press conference, the majority of the golf scribes address him as chairman. Yet I'm pretty sure none of those scribes are members. I complimented a colleague once for calling the guy by his name and he scoffed, "I've known him for 30 forking years. He's Fred to me."

No one is asked to spell his last name while saying it aloud.I get the sentiment, but the dude is "Coach K" because his name is Krzyzewski. Everyone on earth calls him Coach K for a pretty solid reason.
