Vick and Co. linked to murder in NC?

Why do I suspect this story, written on a TV station's Web site and apparently not by the AP, is poorly done at best and libelous at worst?
Seems to me that at this moment, authorities are looking into whether Vick and Co. are linked to a murder victim, not necessarily to the crime.
