What's next?

Whatever is next...why just look to the porn industry of course. They always are on the cutting edge of technology.

Great, I can't wait to see one-legged midgets delivering pizzas. Wait, what?

On a smaller scale, I anticipate that IMBD-type reference guides will be built into your remote pretty soon. Call up Kobe Bryant's stats, headlines, and bio while you watch. Find out what other shows this actress has been in, right on your TV screen.

Driverless cars that can automatically maintain optimal spacing between each other. A mixed blessing in that it takes away the pleasure of controlling the car yourself, but opens up incredible advances in traffic management and logistics.

Pretty good segment about this on Nova Science Now: http://video.pbs.org/video/1801235517/

Not for anything, but I literally made my decision to get a Blu-ray player instead of an HD-DVD player because the porn industry backed Blu-ray. I mean, wait, well, uh, you know what I mean.

Porn's decision to go Blu-ray ended the war, like the Beta-VHS war before it.

I think I thought this worked the other way around for HD DVD vs. Blu Ray, that porn went HD DVD first, then switched later on.

I'm unable, however, to back my foggy memories up with any evidence as Googling "HD Porn" didn't bring back relevant results.

I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to think technology increases on an exponential curve. Makes it kind of hard to predict.

Just read "Ready Player One", a novel that pretty much describes my feeling about where we're headed.

I remember reading right around the time that Steve Jobs died that they were in the beginning phases of "another game-changer" in the line of the iPod, iPhone and iPad that was 2-3 years off...

It was probably something to keep the stock price up. :D

What have been the game-changers of the last 10 years or so? Smartphones, iPhones, iPod, iPad, Kindle, video on demand, digital media...
