When to cut bait

One option if you want to stay in newspapers is to become a copy editor.

The sad thing is that I started out as a full-timer on the sports desk before I moved over to reporting. We're a small enough daily that if I have a good feature with nice art/graphics possibilities, I design it myself (because I don't want my SE forking it up).

The sad part is that while I'm told all my stories suck, I still do really great design. I'm wondering if I should just go back since it seems to be the only way I've earned any respect from my superiors.
