2023 College Football Coaching Carousel thread

Maybe it's time BC gives up big-time athletics and the paycheck and hassles that come with it.

I saw no great proof that he was a valuable head coach from an X's/O's standpoint either. He had a good rep as an assistant at Ohio State, but how much of that came from being at one of a half-dozen schools with the lion's share of talent?

I applaud Hafley for admitting what everybody knows to be true.
If you were a football coach and had a choice, wouldn't you prefer the NFL at this point? Those guys actually have something of an offseason, and they don't have to worry about paying the players.

The NFL is also preferable because you don't have to worry about losing your best players at the end of every season and finding replacements. That college coaches have to contend with the portal twice a year is nuts to me.

1. The Bill O'Brien-to-BC move surprises me, especially on BC's end, but then again it doesn't. He wants to be at home and his son's challenges may make Boston a better spot. Don't know how successful he'll be there, though. Last coach who did anything left more than a decade ago and got fired by a dumbass AD.

2. I know Chip Kelley was on the hot seat at UCLA, but to leave for another conference school's coordinator job? (Still is tough thinking of UCLA as in the B1G.)

Seems the AD and Kelley have been at odds since he got there. Kelley talking about how dumb intersectional travel is for conference games and the need to separate out football probably didn't go over well either. Hope those who "committed" to UCLA this week feel good!

I have no idea who you get to replace him. Fisch landed a better gig at UW, seen a list that includes Fleck, Bienemy, the Nebraska DC, the Ohio State co-DC, David Shaw and of course, Matt Campbell.

Hey, Ryan, I'm just gonna wait here and call some plays for you till they can you for not winning the title next season.

UCLA's recruiting class was not good -- it only had 10 kids in it and 2 were four stars. They did have 11 transfers

Still sucks. Really the term commitment should be stricken from the college athletics vocabulary.
