2024-25 NBA running thread

Once you can see the best players 25+ games a year in the regular season, the novelty was done. Plus, some artificial East v West thing made no sense.

The East vs West format was way way better than the pick-em playground format. With that, there no reason to root for or against any team.

I tip my cap. I did not think the NBA All Star Game could get worse, but they did it. Just an absolutely dreary evening of television. I love the NBA, and everything about this sucked.

I'm on a trip and have it on for noise and nothing better to do and I just can't believe how awful it was. I guess I get the TNT back slapping but it was an insane long break. The basketball was dreadful and pointless.

I literally forgot the game had already started by the time they wrapped up the TNT tribute to TNT. How do you do that in the middle of the game?

I gotta give Chuckie B huge credit; after ripping S.F. as a rat infested city with homeless everywhere, he served food at a homeless shelter then immediately donated $250,000 and said the homeless were great people. Thanks CB for putting your money where your mouth is. The City is still a beautiful city.

a certain… demographic that likes to spend money, watch viral videos and tool around on social media.

You've just described every Baby Boomer I meet. Other than my internet-less parents.

Everybody is that demographic. They may not like basketball, but that's everybody in 2025.

Football has won. It has long enough breaks between plays to allow for scrolling and enough violence to keep them interested. Trying to critique any sport other than it is useless. The iPhone made it the only sport that matters from here on out, for all generations.

It isn't politics. Golf and tennis are dying, too. It isn't skill. Baseball is played at a higher level than ever. People only have space in their brain for a five-second play before needing to look down again. All people at this point. I've stopped trying to win them over or fight it. Watch it, don't watch it. Basketball will eventually come to grips with it the way baseball has.

If Jokic and Giannis and Ant and Luka just don't entertain people enough, no marketing or change will satiate them. They just don't like basketball. I think players resting too much is a problem, but in the end people just don't like basketball very much.
