2024-25 NBA running thread

I've nuked my Twitter account and deleted TikTok. Barely glance at Facebook and haven't posted there in years.

It's been a definite improvement in my life.

I'm on Instagram and Bluesky. (Mostly follow NBA reporters on Bluesky.) Really close to nuking on Reddit. I'm still here and not likely to change that, but haven't glanced at the politics thread in weeks.

Social media is absolutely a detrimental force in our lives. I don't understand why any public figure would still be there.

I'm basically only on Facebook to engage in the group for my favorite band, tickets, meetups, things of that nature. I probably spend more time on Reddit than any place else, but that's an indictment on how bad our local news situation has gotten. I learn more about what's happening in my city from reddit than any place else. Instagram -- scroll through reels and post to my story on occasion, but not much else. We use it a ton for work, though. Twitter, nuked. Bluesky -- curated the feed so it's almost all sports, but I may check it once a day, twice max.

Someone asked Charley Hull at the Solheim Cup about her Instagram account, which is quite popular, and she basically said her agent is the only one who posts stuff to it. She hadn't even looked at it in six months.

I'm deranged and was a touch stoned so I put a tenner on Blazers to cover -4.5 live and watched the end of the game. Looked like a Georgetown non-conference game in there...

Celtics remarkably jumped out to a 25-3 lead and somehow still lost at home to the Cavs in statement game.
The green doesn't seem nearly as invincible as last season.
The Lakers, OTOH, have gone 17-4.

At Wizards Trailblazers in DC and it really has season opener in Major League vibes

"Just a reminder, fans, comin' up is our 'Die-Hard Night' here at the stadium. Free admission to anyone who was actually alive the last time the Indians won a pennant."

When that movie was released, Cleveland was 35 years removed from its last AL pennant and 41 years away from winning the World Series.

Washington is 46 and 47 years removed from winning the Eastern Conference and NBA Finals respectively.
