2024 NFL Head Coaching Carousel

They do have that going for them. Also some extra draft capital. It's not a Carolina 2023 situation he'd be walking into. But I really do think he ballked at leaving because of how badly things ended.
I think you're right. I also think coaches should not make important career decisions in the immediate aftermath of a gut-wrenching playoff loss.

Absolutely. I assume, though, that Washington wasn't willing to let him hold them up and that forced a decision.

Will be interesting to see who the remaining teams end up with. Figure McDonald and ... ????.

It says a lot for an ass't coach when he is willing to bet on himself and wait on taking his first HC gig. A rotten first gig with a rotten no-win organization can doom the guy for the rest of his career. For all of Belichick's many faults, he knew enough to understand he wasn't getting a third chance if he blew the second one, so he bided his time with Parcells for a few years. And he still might not get that third chance!

The Seahawks were also interested in him.

The Commies are in need of a major rebuild. The Seahawks, maybe just a reshuffle of the deck.

Slowik staying in Houston, too, so maybe this is a trend.

I'd at least wait to find out who Washington hires a GM before I committed.
