The top left corner photo is the kind I'm always interested in. What do the SURROUNDINGS look like in the middle of a sunny afternoon? With the eclipsed sun only a minor part of the image as a point of reference.
The big images of just the black disk and corona don't do a thing for me. Seen too many of 'em.

Here's what you might be shooting for. It's kind of a sunrise effect. This is looking southwest. What available light there still is creates a horizon. This is just after 3 p.m.
I think I've come to this conclusion.
Watching an eclipse in person: Very cool.
Watching eclipse coverage on TV: Very, very lame. It was like seeing New Year's Eve coverage from Times Square, or a fireworks show on TV. It's just not the same and the hosts were over the top excited to the point of self-parody. I think Norah O'Donnell had an on-camera orgasm at one point.
I said on facebook that Stephanie Abrams from the Weather Channel either peed her pants or had an orgasm. She was over the damn top.
