That the NFL deviated from standard field prep for the Super Bowl due to logistical issues should be a big issue. "but the halftime show needed to practice, but we needed to put temporary seats in" shouldn't be a valid excuse - nor should the "field met NFL guidelines" be a suffient response. I'm thinking Toma's understudy was eager to appease NFL higher-ups in hopes of a promotion and didn't explain why deviating from what needed to be done (time to dry out, extra sand) would lead to what we saw in the Super Bowl.
