Saunders, James and Flutie acted like they were shocked that the FIU-Miami fight would happen during halftime of the Mich-Penn State game. Yeah, real shocking that a notorious thug program like Miami would get into a fight with a program trying to emulate Miami's success. Other than shooting another player on the field ala Last Boy Scout, I don't think a player Miami could do anything to shock me anymore. If the school had any class, they would say "enough is enough" and fire coker on Sunday. They'd be even smarter just to shut the whole program down. Of course, they won't do that because the football team is worth too much money.

The brawl lasted about five minutes, and it took officials several more minutes to sort out the penalties. Players from both sides appeared to be swinging helmets, and one injured FIU player came onto the field swinging a crutch at Miami players.

More than two dozen uniformed police officers came onto the field, trying to end the fights.

Several minutes after order was restored on the field, one fight broke out among fans in the northwest corner of the end zone, with more than 12 police officers running into the stands to break up that melee. More officers, including some wearing helmets, continued to surround the perimeter of the field.

Miami should fly in some of the program alumni to talk to the kids. Coker can't get to them but they will listen to guys like Sapp, Irvin and Lewis.

I think that's the problem. You always see guys like that Edgerrin James on the sidelines to bring back thug memories, but that won't help Coker build a program with the discipline that he allegedly wants.
