Even if the flag was bogus it was the right call, the Big 12's only shot at a second bid is a perfect BYU losing in the title game. These schools want to play big time college football, this IS big time college football. See also, NASCAR. You protect your moneymakers.

My twelve. BYES Oregon, Texas, BYU, Miami (or SMU or Clemson), then Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana, Notre Dame, Boise State, Penn State, Tennessee and Alabama.

Texas will beat the Aggies, Georgia will beat the Vols. Ole Miss fans will cry about it, Penn State really doesn't belong (best win is Illinois?) I could see SC beating ND.

Horrible PI call on OSU just before halftime, and a bad offensive PI on SJSU in the second half that negated a TD. There was also a clear targeting on SJSU that was called by the replay booth and KN went ballistic. I think he chased the officials off the field.

It was not a good crew. SJSU didn't have a penalty until midway through the third quarter and still ended up with 80 or so penalty yards. OTOH, their QB threw 35 times and SJSU was never called for holding, which anyone who watches football knows is impossible.

Speaking of the Napier thing, he's among the high profile HC's that schools want to dump but have found that their buyouts are prohibitive. While USC, Florida, Oklahoma, etc may not sack their head men, there are a *lot* of coordinators who are going to get replaced. This looks like it is going to be a weird carousel season in that way. We may see more HC's from lower levels of college football tapped to become coordinators to fill those slots as well. There were a couple of those last season.

There may yet be a couple of high profile guys where the AD bites the bullet and makes the move anyhow, money be damned. It's just that the buyouts have gotten so large combined with the need for money elsewhere that likely many on very hot seats will survive.

I'm glad he got to experience the Liberty game. The universe owed him that much after building the program from scratch.

But yeah, you can look at their kids and just tell that they in no way resemble a FBS-ready roster. Things had already gotten sideways as he tried to transition out of his preferred triple option. Then the news broke about moving to C-USA and he redshirted a ton of kids last year in hopes of building up the roster for the jump. But not only did that tank 2023, it also proved to be futile because if you take a bunch of FCS kids and give them an extra year of practice and weight room work, they still come out on the other side as FCS talent.
