College football week 7 thread: Talking Seattle Conference Change Blues

Don't forget that there's G5 midweek action this week.

Tuesday
Louisiana Tech at Middle Tennessee
Liberty at Jacksonville State in a game that will probably decide the CUSA title
Coastal Carolina at Appalachian State in what has been an entertaining series dating back to their FCS days

Wednesday
UTEP at FIU
Sam Houston at New Mexico State
(OK, both of those games are shirte)
Not just midweek … Saturday night ESPN-2 will be broadcasting the Montana-Idaho matchup.

Can't think of the last time the WWL covered something in the Kibbie Dome!

The place will be rocking. That would be a great day in Moscow, wake up at the University Inn, go for a walk/run on the bikepath through campus/downtown, head to Gambino's for lunch and then up the hill to the Dome.

Saw a game at Kibbie about 10 years ago, when Idaho was still FBS. It was super, the sightlines were much better than I thought, the place was well-lit so it didn't feel like domeball.

Idaho has a beautiful campus. I used to run around it when in P/M on business back in the day, the hill by the fraternities was challenging. Memorial Gym is a throwback treasure, haven't been to the new basketball arena yet.

I! D! AHO! Idaho Idaho Idaho!

Am I correct in thinking that the ESPN family is giving FCS football a little more respect this year, for whatever reason?

See what happens when the SEC is a little down? Got the networks scrambling for interesting programming. :)

Wyoming seems pretty dang good. Beat Texas Tech on the road, gave Texas a tough time in Austin, and just beat one of the other top Mountain West teams. That +11 against Air Force seems like a gift that I'll be happy to accept.

Yes. They've met every challenge so far this season. Won against Texas Tech and Fresno as moderate-to-heavy dogs. Bohl is a really good coach but has really struggled to get the QB right, post-Josh Allen.

If so, it's a smart play. Seems weird to just parachute in for the playoffs when the casual fan has no freaking clue who these teams are. Hard to sell the narrative on an Idaho-South Dakota playoff matchup when no one has ever seen them play. The only FCS teams that casual fans really know are North Dakota State and Montana.

With P5 schools going the Fox, CBS, NBC route, ESPN has targeted smaller leagues for content on the networks. I think the MVFC's most recent deal has quite a few guaranteed games on TV the next few season.
