And I've always wondered about the mentality folks take knowing (like in Israel and other places) that you might get randomly caught up in a bus bombing or cafe explosion, etc. If you don't mind the personal question, how have you braced yourself (from the mental / psychological perspective) for things like that?

Wow. This is awful. We were really hoping things would calm down enough to bring families home in the upcoming weeks.

Our consul general has endured serious heckling and accusations -- somehow the media here blames the U.S. for the bombing on the police last week -- but that is so different than an ambassador being shot at a public event.

LOL. Until 24 hours ago, the conventional wisdom was that Trump would be much more friendly to Erdogan. Despite the authoritarian crackdown, Trump would turn over Gulen to them, in part because of his business interests in Turkey.
