I would say mine is probably the 70s.

Just to name a few:

The Godfather
Serpico
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Jaws
Apocalypse Now
Taxi Driver
Chinatown
The Deer Hunter
Rocky
Blazing Saddles
Dirty Harry
All President's Men

Every decade except the 1950s. The 50s sucked.
The 1950s??

Rear Window, Singing in the Rain, All About Eve, North by Northwest, Sunset Boulevard, On the Waterfront, Vertigo, Bridge on the River Kwai, A Streetcar Named Desire, Rebel Without a Cause, The African Queen, 12 Angry Men, Paths of Glory, An American in Paris ...

I was kidding. EVERY decade is awesome for movies. It might be better/easier/more thought-provoking to go for a year. Like this fella did with 1999 in his newly published book.

The French Connection
Godfather II
The Exorcist
Animal House
Halloween
Young Frankenstein
A Clockwork Orange
Monty Python and The Holy Grail

Crazy how many genre-defining (or starting) films in that decade.
