Is every Sturgill album a concept album?
Was glad to see a Frank album high up there. Frank wasn't writing his own songs, obviously, but he was creating albums with a theme (Songs for Swingin' Lovers and Come Fly With Me etc.) long before the long-haired, cretinous devil rockers got a hold of the idea.

Sound and Fury is way more of a concept album than Metamodern is.
As is Dood and Juanita and possibly Sailor's Guide. That's just how he rolls.

What can I say, Rolling Stone best-of lists are catnip/clickbait for guys my age (50).
Glad to see 2112 in the top 10, since Styx basically ripped off the concept for "Kilroy Was Here." (and "Paradise Theater" was a better choice for this list, IMHO).
@Sam Mills 51 ... Duke would have been an interesting choice, as would "Wind & Wuthering," which certainly sets a melancholy mood on most of its songs. "Lamb" is Genesis' most infamous album, although after dozens of listens, the plot is still lost on me (other than Peter Gabriel enjoys dirty jokes and double entendres!)
Count me in among those who enjoyed "American Idiot," although not sure it was the second best concept album of all time. But as mentioned, the point of these lists is to generate clicks and debate. Rolling Stone scores yet again.

My musical taste is so out of touch with this board. Green Day is a hacky impression of a punk band. Their efforts to be more 'creative' sucked balls and were bland, uninteresting, pretentious pieces of ship.
