Masters Running Thread

Again, I have to say it - who gives a ship about ratings? I, for one, could truly care less whether some ashhole in Poo-Poo County watched for 19 minutes because he was flipping through channels and heard the word "Woods."

Not that I mind Tiger Woods. I like his play quite a bit, actually. I simply don't define my enjoyment by whether other, unrelated people enjoyed it, too.

Another from Feherty: "How many times has Tiger played as awful as this and still finished second?"

Now he's playing awful.

In the Masters book:

2008 Champion: Trever Immelman*

*To be fair, Tiger Woods played awful.

zzzzzzz all you want, shockey, but Tiger IS the greatest golfer to ever play the game.

i don't doubt that. but i also don't really care.

Good for you.

More people do.

So just because more people care, everyone must?

I didn't say that.

I said more people -- I mean, more people watching this telecast -- are interested in how Tiger Woods is doing than they are in how Trevor Immelman is doing.

Nobody turned on their TV, save maybe his parents (and even they are interested in Tiger, I bet), to see Trevor Immelman play golf today. Guaran-forking-teed.

So? I mean - you really give a ship why other people turned on their TV?

Don't need to troll. You've now a) told me I'm being ridiculous by defending another poster; b) told shockey that he shouldn't post in a golf thread because he's saying some people aren't Tiger fans.

Waiting with bated breath for c).

boredom. read the thread and weighed in.

no doubt most folks who tune in do so either rooting for or against woods. i just find it amusing that folks care either way.

i understand why folks enjoy playing golf. just don't understand the allure of watching others play. to me, it's a step above bowling. i get that people like bowling themselves. just don't get watching competition against a course as opposed to a human opponent.

i'm a man vs. man, woman vs, woman kind of guy. a team beats a team or a player bests a player.

a golfer "slays" a golf course? good for him/her. but zzzzzzzzzzzzz. ::)

QUESTION: HAS TIGER EVER TRAILED GOING INTO THE LAST ROUND OF A MAJOR AND PULLED OUT A COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN?

i ask 'cause i really don't know. but it seems to me the "greatest golfer of all time" should be more than just a frontrunner who can't be caught.

No. WTF does that even mean? ???

They're bitching about why the announcers are still talking about Woods. I explained why they're ALWAYS going to talk about Woods. As well as they should.

But as a Tiger fan, yes, I want to see the rest of his round today. I like watching him at Augusta, even though he's not winning. There's no drama in Immelman's round right now, either -- so yeah, show me Tiger. Then show me Immelman.

Fair enough. But I don't get the exasperation people have with CBS for sticking with the Tiger angle. It's because Tiger sells. No one's telling you that you have to care, but you (not you, specifically) can't be angry with them for sticking with what the majority of people want to see.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the tournament. I know I did, even though Tiger didn't win. I can't remember a Masters I didn't enjoy.

Dude, that's more introspection than I want to tackle over my enjoyment of watching golf ... AND bowling.

Nor can I. Love this tournament.
