NFL Wild Card Weekend -- Nazareth, live from Philadelphia

Well, Darnold missed the RB on at least three easy checkdowns into the flat (and missed a couple of other easy throws, as I recall). But yes, I don't recall them running a single slant, for example.

There was one pash that he just rifled it at the RB in the flat, off the mark, and I thought Aikman was going to lose his mind and shout "What the fork?"

Darnold is what he's always been. A physical talent that really struggles with the mental aspect of the game. When things start going downhill for him, he can't recover. He can't anticipate pressure and when he does he can't throw the ball away. He's been in the league a while, he's fine to keep on the roster in a backup/bridge role, but no organization in it's right mind is giving him the keys to the car.

I can't think of anyone who has proven both sides of the coin true in such a rapid fashion as Darnold. Could he have a really good breakout season after recovering a bit from the Jets debacle and spending some time watching from the sideline with QB guru Kyle Shanahan? Absolutely! Is he a guy just good enough to not be good enough? Also absolutely! Back in the day (you know, the '90s), he might have been able to pull a Chris Chandler or Vinny Testaverde and help a team go deep into the playoffs or even reach the Super bowl. Not happening in this era, but he can still become an Immaculate Grid cheat code by remaining gainfully employed as a temp well into his 30s or even 40s.
