All right, sit down and strap in. I just found something outright legendary on Youtube. In 1975, Kinky Friedman and his Texas Jewboys ( a send-up of Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys) played Austin City Limits. This is the only ACL show which was never broadcast. Political correctness hadn't even been invented yet, and Kinky crapped all over it. My guess is that PBS was scared of what might happen to their funding if this one ever got out. It was released in 2007 as "Kinky Live in Austin" both as a CD and DVD, with no mention of ACL.

While they may entitle this "Arsehole", it's really "Asshole From El Paso", a parody of Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muscogee".

Anybody know of a good show/series where they interview musicians? You think about how many tv appearances musicians make and it's pretty much just to play a song. Which is great, but I also imagine they have some stories to tell and it would be interesting to hear how their careers came together. The Eagles thread made me think of what it must have been like when they were touring with Fleetwood Mac, and the band's self-produced documentary where oddly enough, Henley and Frey are the good guys.
How/why did some of these bands fall apart?
How did they come up with a "sound?"
Where did some of their songs come from?
What songs are they tired of performing? What places do they hate performing?
What song were they surprised became a hit? Which one would they like to "re-do" and get it right?

You might have better luck with podcasts.

Sure, but it was mainly third person narration with clips. I was thinking like a Costas Later show where they sit down for 30 min. or an hour and dig around a bit.

If you have not seen this, you owe it to yourself to give it a look. It's from a Netflix special. Basically, Burnham sat home and wrote and arranged, performed, recorded, and videoed his Covid lockdown diary/musical. Good stuff.

One of the rare albums I don't use for playlists. I listen to it on its own, and try to listen to it all.
