President Trump 2.0: The NEW one and only politics thread

And guess who's going to Daytona today.

Here's the rain delay plan at the #DAYTONA500 :

-- #NASCAR expecting it to rain for awhile (2-3 hours?)

-- After it clears, they'll try to dry the track (2-2.5 hours typically) and get the race in.

-- Possible late night ahead. Gonna try and nap in my car now, see ya later.

He'll be long gone before the dryers hit the track. If at all.

It must really suck for people who voted to Make America Great Again, to know the path to "greatness" was being blocked by them having a job, their parents having medicine and their kids getting the school support they need.

Weeks of screaming about fiscal savings, layoffs, firings, clawing back $80M from NY, freezes …

And yet The Felon ONCE AGAIN flies to MAL for the weekend on AF1, then adds a trip to Daytona before going back to MAL and then will go back to DC.

Just how much does it cost to fly AF1 and the Beast and all the people-cars-stuff-SS planning for something like Daytona or the SB?

President Musk signed off on this, I guess.

Only people besides billionaires have to tighten any belts.

Congresswoman floats a bill to make Trump's birthday a federal holiday. Pull-eaze...Of course, it'll probably go through, since it is the same day as Flag Day, June 14, and you know how Trump et al pretend to be about the flag. But at this point, it should probably be recognized as a national day of mourning.

MSN

Trump, who was born on June 14, 1946, shares the day with Flag Day, which celebrates the adoption of the American flag on June 14, 1777. It is not an official federal holiday; Pennsylvania is the only state that recognizes Flag Day as a legal holiday.

"No modern president has been more pivotal for our country than Donald J. Trump," Tenney said in the news release. "As both our 45th and 47th President, he is the most consequential President in modern American history, leading our country at a time of great international and domestic turmoil. From brokering the historic Abraham Accords to championing the largest tax relief package in American history, his impact on the nation is undeniable.
"

Referring to Trump as the "founder of America's Golden Age," Tenney added that he should join George Washington in having his birthday celebrated as a federal holiday. (Washington's birthday is more commonly referred to as Presidents Day.)

She says all that like it's a good thing.

Like I said, "Pull-eaze..."

Justice Department fires multiple immigration judges amid case backlog

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department fired multiple immigration judges on Friday, according to two sources familiar with the decision and a statement from one of the judges on LinkedIn. The move threatens to throw sand in the gears of an already strained immigration system as the Trump administration moves to rapidly reshape the federal workforce. ...

Five midlevel ashistant chief immigration judges and 13 candidates to become new judges received termination notices on Friday, according to the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.

"You have a president now who campaigned on immigration and removing people from the country on the one hand. And on the other hand, he's actually firing the very judges that have to hear these cases and make those decisions. So, it makes no sense. It's a head scratcher," said Matt Biggs, the president of the IFPTE.

Unfortunately, it makes perfect sense. Trump most likely is planning to remove people without going through courts, or cases or judicial decisions. We have a lawless President who is going to do whatever he wants. Especially now that, it seems, no one will stop him.

Here's more from the story:

Kerry Doyle, a recently appointed immigration judge, said on LinkedIn she and others appointed by then-President Joe Biden received an email on Friday telling them they had been fired. Doyle previously served as deputy general counsel of the Department of Homeland Security during the Biden administration.

"This firing occurred despite the fact that the Immigration Court currently has in the neighborhood of 3.5 MILLION pending cases and DOJ is asking Congress for more money to hire more people at EOIR!" Doyle said in a statement on LinkedIn, referring to the Executive Office of Immigration Review.

Doyle alleged that the "firing was political," noting that she and colleagues who were fired had been hired during the Biden administration. NBC News cannot independently verify the claims, as the number of fired judges remains unclear.
