President Trump 2.0: The NEW one and only politics thread

I doubt a newsroom would gather around, at this point, any Republican being inaugurated.

1. Most journalists work very remotely now

2. A Republican winning any office is a day mourning in most newsrooms larger than, I dunno, 4.

3. Newsrooms no longer have TVs. Everyone watches everything on their phone.

Regarding all the glory glory Hallelujah music … the only song going through my head is by the late, great Steve Goodman:

Good night, America, how are you,
Don't you know me, I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone 500 miles when the day is done.

I'm not watching the coronation, but the timing of this thread — slightly before the official change of power — reminds me of the Biden inauguration. Roberts administered the oath 10 minutes early, at 11:50 am. So Biden says, "So help me God," and starts his speech. According to the Constitution, power doesn't change until noon.
I never heard anyone on tv mention this. Always wondered if there was a conscious decision to do the oath early. And if so, why?

It just worked out that way. It was supposed to today at 11:47 a.m. but not everyone was in place. Trump was sworn in a minute after he became president at noon. Savannah Guthrie mentioned it on NBC.
