President Trump 2.0: The NEW one and only politics thread

"I'm for balancing the budget, that type of thing, but not in this context," she said. "It's just not right."

This remains one of the most disgusting, inhumane and unnecessary (with regard to imagined/supposed waste, fraud and abuse) things that Trump has done. I'm still not over it. It is, frankly, an illegal shutdown, and so unjustifiable and far-reaching as to be unforgivable.

March 28 (UPI) -- The State Department on Friday formally notified Congress of the closure of the U.S. Agency for International Development with the remaining operations and programs now run by the diplomatic agency.

Later Friday, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va., allowed Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency to resume efforts to dismantle the agency. The three-panel decision unanimously lifted an order two weeks ago by a federal district judge that the shutdown would deprive Congress of its constitutional authority on whether to close an agency....

Trump on Feb. 4 named Secretary of State Marco Rubio to serve as acting administrator of the organization, which initially had 5,200 employees. On Friday, Rubio said the remaining 900 employees will be terminated.

"Today, the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have notified Congress on their intent to undertake a reorganization that would involve realigning certain USAID functions to the Department by July 1, 2025, and discontinuing the remaining USAID functions that do not align with Administration priorities," Rubio said in a statement.

"Reorganization" and "realignment," my foot. This is an elimination, plain and simple.

My bad, I thought the last governor's election in the Commonwealth was in 2022.
Virginia and NJ elections are always held in the odd years after the preceding presidential election, which is why some consider them referenda on the administration. There are odd-year gubernatorial elections preceding the presidential elections like in Kentucky, but those lately have been outliers (Andy Beshear).
