I asked a girl to marry me and she said it wasn't the right time in her life, which I took as a big fat no. I've been single my whole life. Stints with girls but that's about it. People who know me say I keep the door to my truest feelings closed, foot pressed firmly against that door, to keep anyone from getting in. I don't think that's the case, though.
