RIP Joe Wolf

Joe Wolf was one of those guys who for whatever reason always stood out when I consumed college hoops.

Just a really smooth player. I can still picture him in powder blue, with that danged flip-card scoreboard in the background.

RIP.

I covered the McDonald's High School All-American Game when he played in it, along with Pearl Washington, Kenny Smith, Dallas Comegys, Tommy Amaker, Keith Gatlin and one of my all-time favorite players, Bruce Dalrymple, among others.

That was the game before which James Brown sang the national anthem exactly the way you'd expect James Brown to sing it, complete with all the "Hah!"s and "Heeeeeeey"s.

We always joked that we can't recall him ever missing on one of his moves from the post.
