RIP Rosalynn Carter

Now that we're talking about it, I suspect that's exactly why Bush and Obama aren't going: they figure if they did, Fatfork would invite himself and create a scene the Carters obviously don't want.

Nope, the fact Melania was invited -- and is going -- opened it up for TFG to show up, even without Bush and Obama. I suspect in no uncertain terms the TFG is not allowed.

I put 50-50 odds or better he shows up anyway.

With a Faux Fascist Noise camera crew in tow of course.

Jimmy scheduled to be at the funeral. Melania also scheduled to be in attendance.

But no Barack or George W. Bit surprised by that.
IIRC from Barbara Bush's funeral, the sitting POTUS traditionally does not attend services for former first ladies.

"To avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush Family and friends attending the service, President Trump will not attend."

Trump won't attend Barbara Bush funeral 'out of respect' for family, White House says

In other words: Stay the F away.

He wanted to make it look like it was his idea.

Given the fact Barbara was known to be a bit salty at times, and considering Fatfork's public actions and comments toward sons GWB and Jeb, I'd be quite surprised if Barbara herself hadn't made it explicitly clear Fatfork was not to walk through the door.

And then some bright boys in Team Fatfork said, "let's act like it was all our idea anyway. Nobudduh tellz the God Emperor whut ta dew, specially not no old laydee."

I believe Jackie is the only First Widow who has ever remarried.

OK, I was basing my definition of "First Widow" on the wives of the presidents who had died in office.

The story of Cleveland's wife is pretty amazing, and would be a huge scandal today.

I was quite surprised to realize Cleveland lived for 9 years after leaving office; he was famously seriously ill during his second term and had to undergo primitive and not fully effective cancer surgery, and I had the impression he had died shortly after leaving office, but noooooo.
