Running video games (and consoles) thread

I agree that NHL 09 is a great game, probably the best hockey game I've ever played.

I would have been all in to have an SJ team. Playing full 6v6 is a truely awesome experience.

I have NHL 09 and I love the Be A Pro part. You can do that two ways, either start off in the minors and work your way up or choose an NHL player and play as him.

I did a goalie one and working my way up through the minors, had a slow start, but getting better, only allowed one goal my last two games.

I haven't done much with the online part of it, but that looks cool too.

Maybe we can still get at least six for an NHL team online. Who else has the game for Xbox?

I was thinking about picking it up. We may be able to pull in six. I have a buddy who has it as well.

I was going to buy a hockey game, but I was going to get NHL 2K9, glad I checked in here first, sounds like NHL 09 is superior.

From the reviews I've read, the consensus is that NHL 09 is one of the best sports titles EVER.

shirt, I suck at NHL games usually, but I might buy the game if we're doing a dynasty. I would also be interested in an MLB 2k9 dynasty.

Haha, hey guys, I'm up for this, too. Love NHL 09. NHL 08 was the best sports game ever -- until NHL 09 came along.

I've met a ton of people from Montreal playing this game, and now usually play as the Habs because of it.

I just picked up Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, a 2006 release. Haven't stopped playing it.

Great acting RPG game.

I'm in the mode of stockpiling used last-gen games. Stuff like Knights of the Old Republic for the original XBox, X-Men Legends, even some sports games from 2006 and 2007, you can snap up for under $15 now. Most of the time, for under $10. It might be a while before I get around to playing them (I bought KOTOR around Christmas and still haven't played it), but when they're gone they're gone. Better to have them than not.
I got Marvel: Ultimate Allience at EB Games for $9.99 used on the X-Box 360. You can find some great deals used at most of the gaming stores...and most let you bring them back for a full refund within a week or two depending on the store. So I will occasionally buy a newer release used, play it for awhile, and bring it back unless I'm completely satisfied.

So I haven't checked in here in awhile. I saw some good reviews for the latest in the NHL series... anyone here have experience with it?

The last version I bought - and it's been several years - had the greatest soundtrack ever: Sweetness from Jimmy Eat World, No One Knows from Queens of the Stone Age and Pitiful from Blindside. I downloaded the first two, just so I'd have the (mostly) complete collection.

And if I'm going to get a new game, it has to be before the furlough shows up in my paycheck.

That game is awesome. If you like hockey at all, it's a must buy. Hands down probably the best sports game I've ever played. Period.

So it looks like we'd have enough to pull this off.

Ross
Jake
Azgrad

Trey?

We'd almost have enough for a second line!

You guys know more than I do about how it works, but I'm assuming it's okay to have more than six?

This could be fun...

I don't know exactly how it works. I think you form a team and then you can play against other users.

Heck, we get 12, we could probably just play one sj team vs. another sj team.

I'll even play goalie.

I'll probably pick the game up tonight. I have a Target gift card burning a whole in my wallet.

Time for a new thread perhaps?
