I don't even think you need to keep your mouth shut. You just need to keep the trash talk good-natured.

Well, that's the key any time you're a visiting fan.

Closest I've ever come to getting into a fight happened at Arrowhead. I was in line for a beer, with a Terrible Towel hanging out of my back pocket. I smelled something burning and turned around to see a Chiefs fan trying to set the Towel on fire with his Zippo. I knocked the Zippo out of his hand, picked it up and chucked it out of the concourse and into the parking lot. He started to come at me, but a cop who saw the whole thing walked up right then.

You absolutely deserved that.

Granted I'm a Browns fans, but you wouldn't see me with a dog mask on waiting in line for nachos at an opposing team's stadium. There's absolutely no clash involved in getting decked out for away games. You're just looking for trouble if you do that.

He deserves to be set on fire? Are you insane? I'm hoping the blue font key on your computer was tweaked.

I take a back seat to few in my disgust for the Yankees, Notre Dame or the Dallas Cowboys, my personal unholy trinity of sporting teams. When I was at Yankee Stadium a month ago, it would have never occured to me to set someone's hat on fire.

I need some advice here.

On Aug. 30, I'm going to a Red Sox-Yankees game at the Stadium. It's a Thursday afternoon game. My girlfriend and I are both sitting in the bleachers. I'm a Red Sox fan, and she roots for the Red Sox because I do. It says 'alchohol' on the tickets, so I'm guessing that means alcohol is allowed in our section.

My question is, how safe would it be for my girlfriend and I to wear Red Sox gear (caps and shirts) in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium? I went to a Red Sox-Yankees game at the Stadium late last season and saw plenty of people wearing Red Sox stuff. But we were sitting on the first-base side toward the back, and the Red Sox were out of contention by then. I have a feeling it might be a different animal in the bleachers, with the teams most likely neck-and-neck in the standings.

Any thoughts?

google this...(sorry but i cant seem to post the link)

youtube sox fan yankee bleachers

This?

I'm sure it had something to do with the camera he was holding.

The Yankees faithful like the Mets fans, too.

Done the Sox-Yanks thing down in the Bx about 5-7 times, including the bleachers and have never had a problem. Tell girlie to keep the pink Sox hat at home. Just don't be an aaaa-hole and you should be o.k.

I guess it depends if you're serious about the girlfriend. Trying to get rid of her but she's not getting the hint? Put in her all the Sox gear you can find while you go with the subtle Red Sox golf shirt. She can't say you're not wearing the colors, and you can say "gosh, I didn't know they'd give you a hard time..."

I know people are having fun with the question. But seriously, explain to the girlfriend what can happen, but ashure her it probably won't. Chances are pretty strong that you won't leave with bumps or bruises or too many piece of debris on you just because you root for the Red Sox and not the Yankees. Just be a clash act about it, and you'll be fine.

Just remember, if your team scores a run, watch what you say; not because of what bodily harm, but because the Yankees will probably score later in the game and then the fans will taunt you ruthlessly and ruin the rest of the game for you.

That happened to me when I went to Pittsburgh last season to see the Mets. I spent the entire game rooting raucously for New York in a -- albeit small -- sea of Pirates fans. And when the Mets lost, 3-0, I got exactly what I deserved.

No one sporting their favorite team's colors deserves to be set ablaze. That's completely ridiculous.

This isn't soccer. Wear your gear.

The important thing is that if someone does try to get under your skin about it, respond good naturedly.

Sorry to hear that. Chiefs fans and Mizzou fans might not have much of a reputation outside the Midwest, though there are horror stories for both. Unfortunately.

I went to a game in Arrowhead last year, Seahawks-Chiefs. The Chiefs fans were a bunch of insufferable pricks. Of course, the fact that I was wearing a Mack Strong jersey had nothing to do with it. ::)

If I were with my better (in every way) half, I would forego the offending gear. In your case, Red Sox Nation has not increased the popularity of such items.
