Tulsa bombing 1920?Once you put together where the GAP Band comes from and the history of the neighborhood, it's hard to listen to "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" the same way.

They grew up just a few blocks away from the Greenwood District here in Tulsa, the neighborhood which was destroyed in the 1921 Tulsa Race Mashacre, an event that included witness reports of planes dropping bombs on the neighborhood. There were even rumors the song was referencing the mashacre, but Charlie Wilson said in an interview that the only bombs the song was talking about were bombs "made of love."Tulsa bombing 1920?

Al was/is sooooo smooth, he's got a double album of great stuff. Unfortunately (IMHO) he then retired and went preacher/gospel mode.Yeah, I shoulda thrown "Brick House" and "Superstition" in there too. The Al Green really isn't a great fit, but my lord, I love that song.
