The NYT and The Athletic

Every time I look at The Athletic home page, there is a list of HEADLINE stories down the right side. It always includes: CORRECTIONS.
That's what I see and think, there's a lot of corrections. Then I look again and it says: CONNECTIONS. My bad. But maybe they should have a list or corrections, because they need a lot.

I still can't get over how the NYT had Tiger Woods' mom dying at age 78 and The Athletic had 80.

Since Axios didn't buy The Athletic - and the NYT did - figured a new thread was in order.

We'll start with Barry over at the media police - which is one of Defector's primary functions - digging into how the NYT wants to have Athletic staffers stick to sports.

Under NYT Ownership, The Athletic Lays Down "No Politics" Rule For Staff | Defector
Returning to the SJ.com world by posting to this old thread. If curious posters seek my identity I'll be happy to reveal myself. Back in the old days I was a frequent contributor.
Regarding this topic: 1. The New York Times needs to stick to honest journalism about politics. It has sullied its reputation in that regard over the last decade.
2. The Athletic still counts me as a subscriber. But corporate is treating it like a step child. I can't recall which game, but there was an NFL playoff game were the game "story" was the product of three writers, each writing short takes, most likely from their dens. No on-site coverage of an NFL playoff game. Cheap and tawdry.
