Ukraine Always Get What You Want

I've stayed off the politics thread, but politics is everywhere.

Trump surrogates/supplicants have made a little noise about a third term, and they will actively try to bring that into being. Look at who Trump has in his Cabinet, especially anything to do with the military. Every one is full-on MAGA and would absolutely support him just taking control. If there ever is a Civil War II, it will start when he tries to stay in power. It will be bloody and awful, but we must not let him back again.

I, too, regret that I have but one life to give for my country.

Seems the Norwegian sub thing was a private company that made its own decision, which even it's CEO called symbolic since it doesn't have a regular contract. The company put a statement on Facebook that it then deleted.
The Norwegian defense minister issued a statement of his own saying American subs are still welcome there.
So this seems like a big nothinghurger, other than a Norwegian company causing an international incident with an ill-advised social media post.

Norway says it will keep supplying fuel to US navy after company calls for boycott

A Facebook friend of mine defended Trump in his meeting with Zelenskyy.
He said "I want peace." And " I don't believe the war is a matter of principle. Period. It's not even about who started the war and standing up for a greater ideal. Naturally I don't support one country invading another. However, I think there are forces beyond those forces that are using their levers for profit.
So it's hard for me to jump at the banana they are dangling in front of us on a string while I watch Ukrainians die on a principle that was manufactured."

" I am more concerned with the gamblers in the stands than the horses on the track."

and "Having principles is great but without any efficacy to achieve them you run out of people."

What is he even saying?

I just bullied him to get him to admit he was siding with Russia.

Because when you cut through all the bullship he is taking Russia's side.

It's what Trump didn't say that really matters. He said, "I want peace." What he meant was, "I want peace, and it has to be on Putin's/Russia's terms."

Otherwise, what's so hard about settling the issue between Russia and Ukraine? If Russia gets the hell out of Ukraine, the war will be over. It's really that simple, and if Trump would use his always-exaggerated deal-making skills to actually try to deal with Putin, instead of just trying to browbeat and/or extort Zelensky (who isn't in the wrong), THAT would be commendable. And make sense!

Then, I could, maybe, believe that Trump wants peace.

Company already boycotts Russian ships and the government backed them all the way. So if they jumped the gun, understandable.
