Your childhood sandwich?

Peanut butter and jelly, hands down. Today, however, I'm going to try something new: tuna and cheese on a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel. We'll see if this is worth the trouble.

I tried the bagel sandwich today, and I was quite pleased. Two thumbs up from this guy.

my childhood sandwich was pb&j. in my teens, i loved ham and cheese with mayo, and as an adult, i'm down with tuna melts - made one today with a bit of mayo, a couple teaspoons of dijon, five, six, seven dashes of hot sauce and pepper topped melted cheddar and pepper jack.

On a related note, there's a deli near my old school that has remarkable sandwiches. It's a pretty well-known Jewish deli (not Jerry's), but I always get the philly cheesesteak.

Well, the day before my graduation, I took my dad there for the first time. He got the pastrami, corned beef and chopped liver on rye. And he made me take a bite.

If it's a real Jewish deli, there's no way in hell they'd serve a salami and cheese sandwich or a cheesesteak, as both of those violate kashrut (not kosher) and would be considered trafe

6 PAGES AND NO LOVE FOR FRIED BOLOGNA? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

Other points:
* I am a strict Miracle Whip man; no mayo please.
* I love fried bologna with just a smear of whip or also get down to raw bologna with a fresh sliced tomato from my garden and about two tablespoons of Whip -- messy, sweet and sensational.
* No debate over PBs? When I was a kid, it was crunchy Peter Pan only, but now I only go smooth and it has to be Jiff (the Pan is too sweet for me now). Every once in a while I will go crunchy, but usually regret it. Anyone else change brands or types of PB as they got older?
* My great grandmother (yes, she is alive -- 101 years old) made the best grilled cheese. She sliced Velveeta as thin as she could and only dabbed real stick butter on one slice. She then melted a tablespoon of the butter in the skillet until it sizzled and put the sandwich in dry side down. This is how I do them for my sons now and they are the best.
* Also surprised no one has mentioned crispy bacon on a grilled cheese. My bro-in-law did it when we had chili at their house one day and, at first, I thought it was blasphomy, but it was actually pretty darn good.
* and finally, I loved me some pickle and pimento loaf with Whip as a kid too.

But I'm a Whip girl, when I use anything...I usually just go with mustard. Mayo is gross. And my dad used to make me fried bologna growing up.
