Jorts didn't become popular until I was a poor, single guy. They were too expensive.
I have no idea how wide this trend was, but for about six months in the mid-'80s, everyone at my high school wore cycling shorts. Like, black lycra shorts. I don't know how to say this without getting gross about it, but there were dances that must have set records for the most teenage moose knuckle per square foot.
